Landscape
and Gardens
The terraced landscape integrates a
cornucopia of gardens, fountains, walking
paths, seating areas, ponds, pillars,
vegetation, and other natural and man-made
wonders. Perhaps Villa el Cerrito's most
exceptional outdoor feature is an
acoustically impressive Roman amphitheater
where performers, singers, musicians and
mariachis can entertain you and your guests
late into the night. Other striking elements
include a romantic rose-covered gazebo, a
Venetian bridge, a ''secret garden,'' a
Pecan tree bench, a large adobe wall with a
Moroccan mesh window, weeping boulders, and
cascading ponds filled with water lilies,
papyrus plants, and tropical fish. Lush
vegetation abounds, with brilliant purple
bougainvillea climbing the stonewalls,
olive, cypress and fruit trees dotting the
many pathways, and elegant flowers and
plants sprinkled throughout. Finally, the
property is encompassed by majestic shooting
bamboo to enhance privacy and reduce noise
pollution. Conceived by a master New England
gardener and created by San Miguel's premier
landscape architect, Villa el Cerrito's
setting is a work of art in itself, and a
true luxury to be enjoyed. |
